Mission Statement: To mobilize a generation of disciples that will love and follow Jesus Christ and actively advance the Kingdom of God to the nations of the earth, with a clear focus at the most densely populated urban cities. Vision Statement: To cultivate a discipleship movement that will gather, equip, mobilize and make disciples that will impact the cities of the world by perpetuating: · Disciples that make disciples· Leaders that make leaders· Churches that plant churchesHistory of THE MISSION Urban Discipleship Centers (UDC): The Mission Urban Discipleship Centers (UDC) are discipleship and ministry training programs, birthed by the International Department of Youth and Christian Education. The goal was to establish a model in major cities in the United States so that young adults could be discipled and trained for ministry in an urban environment. The Mission UDC program adopts a holistic approach to discipleship, creatively blending emphases on knowledge (formal education), being (informal education), and doing (non-formal education models). Students strive to know God, be men and women of holiness and character, and do the work of the Kingdom. In September 1997, the first Mission Urban Discipleship Center was launched in Atlanta, Georgia. Response to the national model in Atlanta was strong, and another program was started on the west coast in Fresno, California. God is truly raising up an army of disciples to reach our cities and world. Over the last four years, the students in the Mission Urban Discipleship Center Atlanta have served God by— · Feeding over 30,000 meals to the homeless· Showing love to orphans through 20 ministry outreaches at orphanages· Ministering to more than 20,000 children in project areas· Preaching the gospel in more than 1,000 churches across the U.S.· Sharing Christ’s love overseas in Honduras, Ecuador, Uruguay, Cayman Islands, Mexico, Belgium, Canada, the Bahamas, Brazil, England, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Scotland, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Poland, Israel, Ghana, Kenya, and Ireland.· Ministering to more than 100,000 teenagers at Winterfest events. |
